Village of Coroico, Bolivia
May 6-10, 2016
Just a few hours from the busy capital of Bolivia is the quaint village of Coroico. The village sits just on the outskirts of the jungle and if you kept going in that direction you would enter the Bolivian part of the Amazon. Since we would be skipping the Amazon this trip, we decided Coroico would be our replacement. And we weren't disappointed. Coroico is much lower in elevation at 1500 meters (5,000 feet) and the warm weather, moist air and tropical vegetation was a welcome change from the cold dry temperature of La Paz. It was the perfect escape from the congestion of the city and a place to completely and totally unwind.
Our Accommodations - Sol y Luna Hostal
We opted to stay a short distance from the village at an eco-lodge named Sol y Luna Hostal. The eco-lodge is situated above Coroico surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and the most breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. It contains an assortment of rooms and cottages dotted around the property all connected by a series of lovely walking paths. There are also fire pits, pools, and a yoga room available making this one of the nicest yet affordable places we've stayed.
Around Coroico and Walking in the Jungle
We did several nice walks in the area with beautiful views!
