Visit with Friends - Singapore
Its always so wonderful having a visit from friendly faces of home! Our friends Erin and Josee decided to come meet us in Singapore followed by a trip together to Indonesia for some R&R. We had a great time, great laughs and great fun!
New Years Eve
Every New Years is special and this year we celebrated 2014 in Singapore! We headed to the waterfront to join the party and take in the festive light show at midnight. We hope for health, happiness and lots of love for the coming year.
Photo's of Singapore with Friends
We introduced the girls to the districts of Singapore such as Chinatown, the Muslim District and the Colonial District. We also strolled the Botanical Gardens and experienced Singapore's Night Safari which is an open air ride through the zoo grounds to see uncaged large animals at night....pretty cool.
Visit with Friends - Gili Trawangan Island, Indonesia
From Singapore, we flew to Lombok, Indonesia where we then took a taxi to Bangsal Harbour followed by a public ferry 30 minutes to Gili Island. There are actually 3 Gili Islands located off the northern tip of Lombok: Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. We visited Gili T the most populated and touristy of the three for some beach time and R&R!
Our Accommodation - Gili Joglo Villas
We stayed at a great place called Gili Joglo Villas situated in a quiet lane set back from the main road but only 100 meters from the best beach on the island and within minutes to all the shops and restaurants.
It was completely tranquil and lovely.
Photo's of Gili Island
There are no cars on Gili Island so public transportation is in the form of cart and horse...fun!
Bicycling Around Gili
It only takes 1 hour to bike around the whole island...So we set out one very hot day and nearly died of heat exhaustion
but it was all good fun!
Visit with Friends - Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
From Gili Island, we took a fast boat 2 hours to Padangbai Harbour on Bali and from there, a shuttle to our hotel in the village of Ubud, made famous of course, by the book Eat Pray Love. It was a perfect introduction to Bali!
Our Accommodations - Alam Jiwa (Room called Jatayu)
We stayed at a wonderful hotel called Alam Jiwa located 15 minutes walking distance to the main streets of Ubud but situated in the rice fields, it was a tranquil and beautiful oasis from which we enjoyed our last two days with Erin and Josee.
Monkey Forest Sanctuary
This is a reserve located in the town of Ubud that strives to protect the Balinese long tailed macaque monkey. You can enter the reserve and walk the short distance to the other side while observing and trying to avoid the cheekiness of the monkies!
Goodbye Dinner and Cheers to Deb's 40th!
Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to our friends and toast Deb for turning the BIG 40 this year!
We found a great restaurant called Ubu Rai located along the main road in Ubud, it had delicious food and pretty lanterns!
