Squaw Lake, Yuma, Arizona
December 24, 2009-January 3, 2010
It was time to settle somewhere for the Christmas holidays. On a whim, we headed to Squaw Lake Campground, near the city of Yuma. It is operated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and located on the backwaters of the Colorado River, directly above the Imperial Dam.
Our Accommodations - Squaw Lake Campground
Squaw Lake Campground is located on BLM (Bereau of Land Management) land about 22 miles outside of Yuma. The area was really quite nice and the campground had large paved sites with picnic tables, firepits and showers. There were lots of hiking trails throughout the desert hills and boating activities around the lake.

Photo's from Hiking Trails
We enjoyed many long walks throughout the desert hills near our campground. We met a really nice couple from Saskatchewan who were kind enough to point out some of the best trails.
The Local "Library"
Near the campground, someone had set up a"library" in an old Air Stream RV where campers exchanged books on a trading system. We thought this was a great idea and they had taken a lot of care to ensure it was well organized.
