Samaipata, Bolivia
April 22-27, 2016
The sleepy little village of Samaipata sits at the base of the Cordillera Oriental (Bolivian Andes) at an altitude of 1650 meters. The name is forged from the traditional Quechua language and translates as "Rest in the Highlands". Its a beautiful area surrounded by lush vegetation and is often referred to as Bolivia's secret little paradise. But word is out and foreign restaurants and hotels are popping up all the time. Most come here to visit the pre-Inca ruins of El Fuerte or visit Amboro National Park.
Our Accommodations - Andorina Hostal
We really enjoyed our time at this friendly hostal. Located a few minutes from the plaza we liked its quirky design and plant filled courtyard where we enjoyed our meals with friendly travelers.

Zoo El Reguio (Animal Refuge)
Just a short walk out of town is a animal refuge run by a French woman and a staff of volunteers. They had a variety of rescued animals including many types of monkey's which were permitted to run free and interact with visitors.
