Northwest Highland Route, Scotland
May-June, 2013
We drove the Northwest Hightland Route from Thurso to Durness and then to Ullapool. There is so much daylight here, it doesn't get dark until nearly midnight and then begins getting light again around 3:00am! The drive was absolutely amazing! Its so diverse with mountains, green rolling hills, lakes, oceans, forrests and tundra. We loved the remoteness of this region and its wonderful beauty. Ofen shrouded in mist, it felt quite magical and had us spell bound at every turn.
Our Accommodation - Sango Sands Oasis Campground and Torridon Campground
We found two great campgrounds within the area.
Our first night we stayed near Durness at Sango Sands Oasis Campground.
On our second night, we stayed at a free campground in Torridon (still with showers and WC!)
Photo's from our Highland Route
Our camera just couldn't capture the beauty we saw at every turn...It was quite spectacular!
