Montezuma, Costa Rica
September 18-21, 2011
After our house sitting job came to an end, we wanted to do a little traveling before heading to Honduras for our volunteer commitment. We decided to focus on the Nicoya Peninsula since we hadn't yet experienced the Costa Rican coast and its beautiful oceans. Our first stop was the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula at a town called Montezuma. Montezuma is quite remote and because of this, has not boomed with development along its beaches. Its a town with a mix feel of local people, hippies and tourists. It's very laid back and slow paced and has some beautiful coast line. The perfect place to unwind!
Our Accommodation - Amor de Mar
We chose a hotel called Amor de Mar and we're so glad we did! It had a fantastic location on the water with superb views!
Hammocks in the yard, lounge chairs on the lawn, and an open air sitting area made this a very relaxing place to stay!

Snorkeling Tour to Tortuga Island
We boarded a speed boat for a 30 minute ride to Tortuga Island and along the way, we saw humpback whales (several times) which was really amazing! Once we arrived, we snorkeled and then ate a yummy BBQ lunch and had time to relax.
Montezuma Waterfalls
We hiked to the famous Montezuma Waterfalls which was a fun but difficult hike that included wading through the river and menuvering some tricky rocks. But once we were there, it was so pretty!
