Iguazu Falls, Argentina
March 5-8, 2016
Iguazu Falls border the frontier between Argentina and Brazil and are one of the most majestic natural wonders of the world. The name "Iguaza" comes from the indigenous language meaning “big water.” Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful woman who eventually fled with her mortal lover in a canoe. In a rage, the god sliced the river creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall. Whether that's true or not, they do however contain 275 waterfall drops of varying heights and widths, taller and twice as wide than Niagara Falls. Though you can visit the falls from both countries, Iguazu National Park in Argentina is bigger than its Brazilian counterpart with more special walkways that bring you straight into the heart of the action. In some cases you're only an arms length away from some of the falls and there's lots of opportunity to get wet! The deafening roar of the falls and sheer magnitude of their size and velocity are truly jaw dropping. It was an amazing visit and definately one of the highlights of our trip in South America.
Our Accommodations - Hotel Lilian
The base town to visit the falls is Puerto Iguazu and we found a wonderful little place called Hotel Lilian. Situated only a few blocks from the centre it was a great option.
