Cape Cod, Massachusetts
October 2-4, 2010
Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket Island: These places almost feel magical in some way maybe because of the romanic images of a simple life by the sea or the names of the elite who live here. We came to explore The Cape Cod National Seashore which was created in 1961 by John F Kennedy. The national seashore encompasses over 43,000 acres and includes ponds, woods and Atlantic beachfront.
Our Accommodations - Nickerson State Park
There is no camping permitted inside the National Park but there were plenty of local options to choose from. We stayed at Nickerson State Park which was at the gateway into the park so it made a fantastic location.
Cape Cod National Seashore
Cape Cod National Seashore seemed romantic and beautiful and everything seemed to have that "cape cod feel" with grass blowing in the sand dunes, cedar shake homes with a rainbow of colored doors and the salty air of the ocean. It was lovely.
Martha's Vineyard
We decided to take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Unfortunately, the gale force winds and rain removed most of the magic and romance we pictured with the island but it would be nice to return someday with improved conditions!
