Breaux Bridge and New Iberia, Louisana
January 14-15, 2011
After leaving New Orleans, we headed west to a more rural area of Louisiana to visit two small towns named Breaux Bridge and New Iberia. We're not even sure why we ended up here but it so happened that a restaurant called Cafe des Amis served up brunch and zydeco music on the weekends so we decided to give it a whirl.
Our Accommodations - Lake Fausse State Park Campground
We settled into a nice remote campground called Lake Fausse Pointe State Park which was in close proximity to the towns we wanted to visit.
Zydeco Music at Cafe des Amis
In the town of Breaux Bridge is a restaurant called Cafe des Amis. On Saturday mornings, the cafe hosts live bands playing zydeco music (creole jazz) during brunch. You have to arrive by 7:30am or you won't get a table. The place was packed with dancing, singing and lots of fun!
