Bodega Bay, California
November 15-16, 2009
The Bodega Bay area is of outstanding natural beauty along the northern coast of California. The park authority maintains trails and beaches which makes for many options of day hikes or water activities. We really enjoyed our time here and got up close and personal with a abalone!
Our Accommodations - Doran Beach State County Park and Ocean Cove Campground
We arrived in the Bodega Bay area and spent our first night at Doran Beach State County Park. It was a beautiful setting with many campsites having views of the ocean. Our favorite camp site was at Ocean Cove Campground, which was situated right on the bluff overlooking the ocean with a great view!

Up Close and Personal with Abalone
We met some really nice people from Sacremento who invited us to their camp site for freshly caught abalone barbeque. The gentlemen we met, free dives for abalone (a large type of snail) and cleaned, sliced and barbequed it up! Nearby neighbours also joined us bringing homemade stew. Yum, yum.
