Amed Coast, Bali, Indonesia
January 16-18, 2014
Wtih our scooter rental at hand and ready for adventure, we left to explore the northern area of Bali by bike. Our first stop was the coast of Amed with its black sand beaches and rocky shoreline. The Amed coast is made up of a string of small villages cashing in on diving and snorkeling tours. Its apparently well known for good snorkeling but when we were there, the waters were choppy and we were unable to swim. We weren't overly thrilled with the area but enjoyed a few meals by the ocean.
Our Accommodations - Galang Kangin Bungalows, Jemeluk
We stopped at the village of Jemeluk and stayed at Galang Kangin Bungalows associated with Mama Dive. It was a very simple room and somewhat worn, but situated in a nice garden with its own veranda and located across the road from the black sand beach.
Tirta Gangga Water Temple
We visited this nearby temple which was once used as a king's palace and his royal swimming pools.
