Aguirre Springs, Las Cruces, New Mexico
April 13-18, 2010
Located about 1 hour outside of Las Cruces, we found a great campground called Aguirre Springs Campground. It is operated by the Bureau of Land Mangement (BLM) and is surrounded by high walls of the Organ Mountains and the Chihuahuan Desert. The campground is nestled at the base of the spectacular cliffs with amazing views and quiet solitude.
Our Accommodations - Aguirre Springs Campground
We ended up in a lovely spot called Aguirre Springs Campground. It was set quite high into the mountains making it a long and curvy road to get here but well worth it. It was beautiful here. The spots were huge and many were very private and secluded with fire pits and ramada's. BLM did an excellent job designing the campground and its very well maintained.
Pine Tree Trail
We did a hike called the Pine Tree Trail. It was 4 miles round trip up into the mountains and passed small creeks and waterfalls with all kinds of trees and plant life. It was a really nice hike.
