Acadia National Park, Maine
September 15-16, 2010
Maine is famous for its beautiful rocky coast that extends into the Atlantic ocean. It seems the coast is dotted with small quaint fishing villages reminiscence of another era. The turning colors of the trees were outstanding and the open space and ocean air had us hooked. We stopped at the quaint village of Bar Harbor which is the gateway town to Acadia National Park.
Our Accommodations - Bar Harbor Campground
The National Park campground was full when we arrived but there was an abundance of private campgrounds within the area. We stayed at the Bar Harbor Campground which was within minutes of the National Park and the town of Bar Harbor and had a great view of the ocean!
Bar Harbor
Acadia National Park
We started our day with a walk along Ocean Trail from Sand Beach to Otter Point and then drove the park loop of Acadia National Park and stopped at the major sight-seeing points along the way.
Pop Overs at the Jordan Pond Restaurant
Along our drive we stopped at a famous place called Jordan Pond Restaurant that has been open since the 1880's.
Set in a lovely location, its famous for a food called "pop overs". Pop overs are light and fluffy and served with butter and jams. Definately a must do!
